Trump had individuals take away their masks when assembly with him

Donald Trump yelled at White House staff and others to take off their masks when they were in his presence or when meeting with him.

The New York Times reported:
President Trump sometimes told staff who wore masks in meetings to "take that thing off," an administrative official said. Everyone knew Mr. Trump viewed masks as a sign of weakness, officials said and that his message was clear. "You were looked down when you came by wearing a mask," said Olivia Troye, a top advisor to the coronavirus task force who stepped down in August and endorsed former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.

In public, some of the President's favorite targets were masked White House correspondents. "If you take it off, I can barely hear you," Mr Trump told Reuters' Jeff Mason in May, then mocked Mr Mason for "wanting to be politically correct" when he refused.

Trump created a culture in the White House that ridiculed wearing masks when Trump made it clear that the way to make him happy was not to wear a mask.

Instead, Trump relied on the unreliable instant test known to have false negatives. The fact that the White House uses an unreliable testing system means that any claims made by these administration officials who tested negative should be treated with skepticism.

The outbreak that is spreading, and indeed its own infection, was caused by Trump's refusal to listen to health professionals and take basic safety precautions.

Trump unnecessarily endangered lives, including his own, which is why there is an overwhelming lack of sympathy in the country for his current condition.
