A lot is going wrong for Lindsey Graham right now. The South Carolina Senator has been dejected over fundraising and regularly begged for donations on Fox News.
Graham also faces a really tough challenger in Jaime Harrison. And Harrison got under the senator's skin in the worst possible way. The Democratic challenger went viral during his first debate when he brought his own plexiglass divider.
The men should debate again this evening. Graham decided not to attend. The incumbent Senator has decided that being in Washington DC is more important to focus on Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court nomination process.
Harrison wasn't about letting Graham live the decision. He said to Laura Coates of SiriusXM:
"This is probably the most historic Senate race in the history of this state, and it's really sad to see Senator Graham duck and dodge [the debate], but it's proof of who he is." He believes he is representing the interests of Washington, DC rather than representing the interests of the people of South Carolina. And that's why he's about to bring this one-way ticket home. "
The challenger continued: "We build something because, like a laser, we focus on the people in the state. As I've said so many times on this campaign trail, we're going to close the chapter on the old south and write a brand new book called The New South that is bold, inclusive and diverse. "
