The Republican National Committee has decided to send several field workers in Wisconsin to Georgia as that state prepares for at least one runoff election in the US Senate in January.
President Donald Trump's campaign seeks a recount in Wisconsin.
The RNC told Trump Victory Committee field workers that at least two dozen of its 100+ Badger State employees will travel to Peach State, according to a Republican Wisconsin campaign official who is briefed on the plans. The Trump Victory Committee is a joint operation of the Trump campaign and the RNC.
That person told CNBC the move comes as the RNC seeks to allocate resources for two possible Senate outflows due in January. NBC News predicted that the race between Senator Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga., And Democratic challenger Raphael Warnock will result in a runoff election. This competition is expected to cost well over $ 100 million.
The other race in the state between Senator David Perdue, R-Ga., And Democrat Jon Ossoff has yet to be called up on NBC News.
Some Trump Victory employees are staying in Wisconsin while others are losing their temporary positions, this person added. Those who go to Georgia will do door knocking and other field duties for the Senate competition.
Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said last week that the operation would seek a recount in Wisconsin. Joe Biden is the obvious winner of swing state in the Midwest, according to NBC News projection. He also won the entire presidential election, according to calls from NBC and other outlets.
"There have been reports of irregularities in several Wisconsin counties that cast serious doubts on the validity of the results," Stepien said in a statement last week, with no evidence to support his claims. "The President is on the threshold to request a recount and we will do so immediately."
The campaign and RNC did not return a request for comment on what the partial withdrawal from the state means to their recounting efforts.
