Biden begins receiving categorised day by day briefings from the President

WASHINGTON – President-elect Joe Biden will begin receiving the classified daily briefing from the President, a spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which NBC News confirmed Tuesday.

"According to the law of the Presidential Transition Act, ODNI will ask the transition team for assistance," the spokesman said. "This afternoon the White House approved ODNI to advance the deployment of the PDB as part of the transition assistance."

The PDB, as the briefing is called, is both a legal requirement and a rite of passage for elected presidents. This is the first step in transferring responsibility for the nation's most sensitive national security secrets from one presidential administration to the next.

As a rule, the elected presidents receive the PDB within a few days after the election victory. That year, President Donald Trump's refusal to accept his defeat manifested itself in a nearly three-week delay in the start of the formal transition process.

Trump only agreed to approve the start of the transition process late Monday so that the General Services Administration can provide federal funding to the Biden transition team. However, he falsely insisted the election had not yet been decided and continued to litigate across several states.

"What has the GSA, which is allowed to work with the Dems for the time being, to do with us pursuing our various cases in what will be considered the most corrupt elections in American political history?" Trump tweeted Monday night. "We are in full swing. We will never admit fake ballots and" Dominion "," he added, referring to unsubstantiated conspiracy theories.
