Biden is reportedly contemplating Andrew Cuomo as legal professional normal

Troubling new reports say former Vice President Joe Biden is considering appointing New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) as his attorney general.

Cuomo makes Biden's attorney general shortlist

A person familiar with the matter confirmed that Cuomo made Biden's shortlist for the position, according to Bloomberg. Other names on this list include Alabama Senator Doug Jones, Circuit Court Judge Merrick Garland, and former Assistant Attorney General Sally Yates.

If Cuomo is actually chosen to take on this role, it would be his second time working in a presidential administration. He first served as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development during the Bill Clinton presidency.

Cuomo's path to actually being sustained as attorney general should Biden choose him, however, would be rocky at best, as he would have opponents on both sides of the aisle.

In the nine years that Cuomo was governor of New York, he has signed a same-sex marriage, a $ 15 minimum wage, and gun restrictions. Even so, there are some Democrats who feel that Cuomo was nowhere near progressive enough.

Cuomo handled COVID-19 terribly as governor

Although Cuomo has received praise from the left for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, the right feels that he has arguably tackled this crisis worse than anyone. Earlier this year, he signed an order forcing nursing homes to admit patients who had tested positive for coronavirus, which only resulted in countless deaths among the elderly.

Cuomo claimed last month that his only focus right now is being governor of New York.

“Look, I said to the New Yorkers when Covid started my only agenda is New York. I'm not running for President, I'm not running for Vice President, I'm not going to Washington. "Cuomo said according to Forbes.

"This will go a long way for New Yorkers," he added. "I want you to have full confidence in what I'm saying. I have no other agenda than being Governor of New York and I will stay here and finish the job."
