Attorney General William Barr officially resigned as attorney general on Wednesday and praised President Donald Trump in his resignation letter.
“As I told the President in my suicide note and reiterated during my last press conference on Monday, it was a great honor to serve in that role again,” wrote Barr, who previously served as Attorney General under George HW Bush.
“Over the past two years, the dedicated men and women in this department – including its operational components – have been reinforced to meet historical challenges and maintain our vital mission to enforce the rule of law,” he added.
“I have always been inspired by your professionalism and excellent work,” said Barr. “As I did 30 years ago, I leave this office with deep respect for you and I will always be grateful for your dedicated service to the nation we love.”

Barr praises Trump
Barr praised Trump for the achievements he had made during his tenure.
“Your record is all the more historic as you achieved it in the face of relentless, relentless resistance,” wrote Barr to Trump.
“Your 2016 victory speech, in which you reached out to your opponents and called for cooperation for the benefit of the American people, was immediately hit by a partisan attack against you, in which no abusive and deceptive tactic, however abusive and deceptive, failed,” he continued.

“The essence of this campaign was to cripple, if not suppress, your government with furious and unfounded accusations of collusion with Russia,” said Barr.

It came a week after Barr’s resignation was announced after he and Trump reportedly argued over whether or not the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent.
“I just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House. Our relationship was very good, he did an excellent job! According to the letter, Bill will leave shortly before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family, “Trump tweeted on December 14th.
“Assistant Attorney General Jeff Rosen, a distinguished person, will become acting Attorney General,” added the President. “The well-respected Richard Donoghue will serve as Assistant Attorney General. Thanks to all!”
