There are many inmates with interesting cases who are hoping for a presidential pardon. Unfortunately, many are neither Republicans nor close personal friends of Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, the president apologized to the embarrassed politicians Chris Collins and Duncan Hunter. He also exempted the war atrocities from Blackwater contractors.
On Wednesday evening, Trump continued to make fun of the pardon process. The recipients this time included Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Jared Kushner’s father.
Kushner’s father has already served his time. Charles Kushner was convicted in 2005 of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion and witness manipulation. The business mogul once hired a prostitute to lock up his brother-in-law.
Manafort, who led Trump’s campaign for a period in 2016, has faced numerous problems related to his business in Russia and Ukraine. The former political activist was sentenced to 90 months in prison.
Earlier this year, Trump stepped in to use a commutation to save Stone weeks before going to jail. However, Stone has continued to argue that he also needed a pardon to keep him safe. Trump was happy to step back in and reward his “dirty trickster”.
This is a developing story with more to come shortly.
