Houston Metropolis Council refuses to step down after backlash over the flattering Michelle Obama meme

There is increasing demand for a Houston city councilor to step down by simply posting an unflattering meme from former first lady Michelle Obama, but instead of stepping back, they speak out to defend themselves.

City council refuses to step down

Houston city councilor Greg Travis who represents District G of the city of Texas shares a meme comparing Michelle to Melania Trump. The meme showed both women in pant suits, and Travis wrote it, “Yes. I am just saying. “

Ashton P. Woods, founder of Black Lives Matter Houston, posted screenshots of the post on Twitter and urged Travis to step down.

“Houston City Councilor Greg Travis hates black women,” Woods wrote alongside the screenshots. “ASK FOR HIS RESIGNATIOM [sic]. ”

“It’s called affirmative action. Doesn’t take much – she was born with her qualifications. It’s not the brightest lightbulb in the lot, ”Travis replied. He went on to include Kamala Harris in the conversation.

“And let’s not talk about Kamala – her qualification is that she sleeps with powerful men,” he said. “And don’t bring up Hillary. Please, she would be nothing without Bill and she had to cover up the fact that he raped these five women. Feminism is dead on the left. These three helped kill it. “

Travis refuses to retire

Despite the backlash he’s received, Travis defiantly told KPRC2 that he would not step down.

“I have every right to my opinion. They have every right to their opinion. I don’t tell other people that they can’t have their opinion, ”he said. “You can call whatever you want. I am not stepping back. “

“There’s a difference,” added Travis of Melania and Michelle. “I think you are more noble. One is not. “

When reporters urged it, he replied, “Well, I just think that you represent the ideal of the first lady. Michelle Obama was always too political for me. “

Regarding positive action, Travis said, “You won’t get positive action if you’re white.”

When asked if he really believes Michelle came to Harvard for positive action only, he replied, “Well the answer is that I don’t know for sure because I haven’t seen your log, but I’ll tell you for reading articles that hinted at it. So the answer is: I don’t know if she did it or not. “

Travis doubles

“I like women. I like black women. I like black women,” Travis continued. “One of my favorite people is Candace Owens. I actually gave money to their organization. If I didn’t like black women, I probably wouldn’t support them.”

Despite the many careers that break culture mobs like the one after Travis’ destruction, he doesn’t think he’s going anywhere.

“What is trying to be done to me is to cancel me,” he said. “It will not work. When people do that, I only fight harder. “
