In the aftermath of “The View” on Thursday, Meghan McCain became visibly emotional when she spoke about the previous day’s protests on Capitol Hill, calling on Republican lawmakers to remove President Donald Trump from office by invoking the 25th Amendment.
Meghan McCain condemns Capitol protests
“This is one of the great national tragedies of my life, this is one of the darkest days in America. I was absolutely desperate when I saw this. I’m here in DC everyone knows, “said McCain. “My sister-in-law works on Capitol Hill and the office door she works on. The window was blown.”
“I think this is a time to take a close look at where we are as a country and take a very close look at where we are with President Trump,” she continued.
“The foundation of our democracy, and the foundation of who we are as Americans, is peaceful transfer of power, and he is clearly a president who has turned himself into a mad king,” added McCain. “At this point I am calling on all Republicans and Conservatives who still have influence. We have to refer to the 25th amendment. We can’t take it. Our country cannot go on like this. “

This is because various democratic representatives have called for the 25th amendment to be convened. This would allow Vice President Mike Pence to become incumbent president if he and the majority in the cabinet declare Trump unable to carry out his duties.

According to Fox News, however, a two-thirds majority in the House and Senate would have to approve.
McCain gets emotional
McCain grew angrier as she continued talking about the protests on Wednesday.
“Yesterday when I was watching the footage, these bastards use the American flag as a symbol when attacking our own republic, the same flag our veterans held in Iwo Jima after World War II,” McCain said.
“You are not patriots, you do not represent America, you are the dregs of the earth who use, abuse and bastardize everything I love and grew up with for their own sick agenda,” she added.
“That agenda was sent straight, straight from President Trump and then he didn’t reject it, he didn’t send the National Guard, and then he labeled it special and said he loved it,” McCain continued.

When she became visibly emotional, McCain concluded by saying that this was a “national embarrassment” and called for Trump to be removed from office.
“We have to get him out immediately because we can’t stand that,” she said.
