Democrats draft laws to stop something from being named after President Trump

As Democratic lawmakers celebrate their vote to indict President Trump a second time, some of those lawmakers are trying to take things a step further.

Representatives Linda Sanchez (D-CA) and Joaquin Castro (D-TX) are working on a bill that will prevent objects – including schools, highways or federal buildings – from being named after the 45th President.

Sanchez alleged that her presence in the House Chambers last Wednesday, when violent protests erupted in the Capitol, was the catalyst for the law to be drawn up.

“I’m working on a bill that would mean that nothing – not even a bank, no airport, no motorway, no school – would never bear the name of this traitor.”

In a statement, Congressman Castro said: “President Trump instigated an insurrection that has damaged some of our country’s most important and sacred federal assets. Donald Trump should never become the Confederate symbol of a future generation. “

In addition to supporting the impeachment and removal of Donald Trump from office, I am preparing laws that prohibit the naming of federal buildings or land after President Donald J. Trump.

Sanchez claims she called her husband the night before the protests to tell him what her plan was. The security warnings came on Wednesday afternoon around 1:15 p.m.

In an interview with People magazine, Sanchez says, “Something told me, ‘You better go.'”

Both Sanchez and Castro voted for the president’s second impeachment.

Not only did Sanchez call Trump a “traitor,” he continued, “I don’t think he deserves any of the perks given to previous presidents. I don’t think a riotous White House resident should ever have named anything after him. “

If not impeachment, then the 25th amendment

Sanchez is also among a number of congressmen who want Trump to be removed by the 25th Amendment, thereby depriving the president of his powers.

However, she says she isn’t optimistic about this prospect. “Given that the people around Trump have never turned against him, I find it hard to believe that they will hit this moment with the appropriate answer. That is why we signed impeachment proceedings to try to get him removed. “

Julian Castro, brother of Joaquin and a former presidential candidate, is totally fine with his twin. He tweeted, “I gave him this idea.”

Both Texas-born Castro brothers have also called for the resignation of Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) after he and other Republican lawmakers objected to electoral college certification last week.

“He’s acted shamelessly, and I think he did it because he thinks it’s the only way, the only chance, the only chance he has to win the Republican presidential nomination.”
