Wallace responded to Biden’s address by saying:

I thought it was a great speech. I’ve been listening to these inaugural speeches since 1961. John F. Kennedy doesn’t ask. I thought this was the best inaugural address I have ever heard. Much of this event today, much of the President’s speech, was marked by the emotion of the fact that exactly two weeks ago, a fortnight ago, a mob, a buzz of insurgents, of domestic terrorists, was at the opening stand. Joe Biden said democracy had prevailed. We did it. He talked about how we have to do this in the future if we want to be a united country.

We talked about white supremacy, domestic terrorism. He said we have to face this, we will defeat it. My whole soul is in it and unites our people. I think it was less of an inaugural address than a sermon, an encouraging conversation, a face-to-face conversation with the American people who said listen to me. We have the right to object peacefully, but our disagreement must not lead to disagreement. It was a call to our better angels, a call to say, look, we have tremendous challenges, Covid, communist racial injustice, climate change, but there is nothing we cannot do when we get together.

And there’s one other thing he said that I think we especially need to be aware of in the media. He said that there is truth and lies, lies told for power and lies told for profit. And I think it was a call to all of us, whether we are on the air, on the cable or on the broadcast, whether we are on social media, on our Twitter accounts, and understand that we are from the facts, from the truth listening to one another, a right to disagreement, but not a right to violence.

Biden’s address was widely acclaimed for marking the return of the presidency as an office of the people rather than a cult of personality. Many people have seen the danger that the great Republican lie posed after the attack on the Capitol. Biden read the needs and tone of the country perfectly, and his speech was good, even generating applause from the corners of Fox News.
