Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler sprays a maskless man with pepper sprays over reported COVID considerations

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler allegedly sprayed pepper spray on a maskless man who confronted him outside a restaurant for not wearing a mask while eating.

The man reportedly approached Wheeler and former Portland Mayor Sam Adams outside the McMenamins Hillsdale Brewery & Public House, where he complained that the two of them did not wear masks while eating.

Wheeler replied that they were “at a table in the tent area of a restaurant” and that “the current Covid regulations allow people to take their mask off to eat and drink”.

Unsatisfied with this reaction, the man followed Wheeler to his car, according to a police report, where the former mayor warned him that he had pepper spray.

Fox News reported that the Democratic Mayor “was concerned for his personal safety and contracted COVID-19” which prompted him to use the pepper spray.

“He stayed very close, I pulled out my pepper spray and sprayed him in the eyes,” said Wheeler.

Then he tossed the man a bottle of water to help him rinse his eyes.

Sooo … Ted Wheeler won’t let cops tear up ANTIFA rioters with gas, but he sprayed a guy with pepper who “wasn’t wearing a mask and came too close to him while filming on his cell phone” … got it.

Wheeler Pepper Sprays Maskless man

The irony of the situation is not lost with anyone.

Wheeler banned Portland Police from using tear gas against rioters in his own city last September.

And while it allowed the use of mace and pepper spray, Portland Deputy Police Chief Chris Davis said in June that the latter was “actually a little worse” than tear gas.

Wheeler himself was hit by tear gas that summer when he joined protesters on the street and urged federal police officers to leave his town when rioters attacked a federal court with explosives.

The protesters threw water bottles at the mayor and aimed leaf blowers in his face.

He said he was concerned about getting Covid but he was eating at a restaurant. Seriously, this story is just dripping with irony

Wheeler was approached earlier this month

Reports surfaced earlier this month that Wheeler had been beaten by a social justice activist while eating out at a local cafe.

“A member of the group started clapping and making physical contact with the mayor,” a New York Post spokesman said while the mayor was heard on a video claiming he had been attacked.

Wheeler denounced the eight months of violence in Portland as “unacceptable”.

“I will never support criminal acts of destruction or violence. That’s not how we make political arguments in the United States, ”Wheeler said.

But he definitely tolerates it. Just not when it comes to personal safety.
