Two Ohio Republicans have tried to make June 14th “President Donald J. Trump Day” in their state.
Republicans launch “President Donald J. Trump Day” effort
State representative Reggie Stoltzfus from Paris Twp. According to the Ohio Capital Journal, Kenton’s Jon Cross is reportedly preparing to propose a bill to the Ohio House of Representatives for the holiday.
June 14th is both Trump’s birthday and Flag Day. Stoltzfus and Cross said the bill is intended to show the three million Ohioans who voted for Trump “that we as lawmakers recognize the accomplishments of his administration and that the Ohio House believes it is imperative that a day be reserved for one of them.” celebrate the greatest presidents in American history. “

“(Trump) embodied the emotions of millions of Ohioans who have felt ostracized by our government and the American political system for too long,” they added.
“While the media tarnishes his achievements and legacy, the legislation will help ensure that one day a year the voices of millions of people from every corner of our state are remembered,” they said.
Rep. Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) told The Columbus Dispatch that he believed the date was “disrespectful”.
“I don’t like the idea of changing an existing federal holiday honoring the flag,” Corssman said.
The Washington Post calls for Trump to be denied the presidential library
This came after the Washington Post published a piece by “art and architecture critic” Philip Kennicott calling on Trump not to receive a presidential library.

“Trump must never have an official presidential library, and Congress should act quickly to ensure it never will,” wrote Kennicott, adding that Trump cannot be trusted in handling documents related to his presidency, because he “mixed public and private interests”.

He went on to say that Trump could use his presidential library to brag about his success, which shouldn’t be allowed.
“The danger that Trump will use a presidential library to improve his image is far more serious. The ex-president and his deputies still advocate the idea that his election loss was somehow fraudulent,” said Kennicott.
“This creates persistent uncertainty in American public life that Trump and even more unscrupulous actors will use to fuel the division, fuel tension, exacerbate racism and delegitimize the American democratic system,” he added.
