President Biden said:
Leading with diplomacy means standing shoulder to shoulder with our allies and key partners again. If we lead with diplomacy, we must also diplomatically involve our adversaries and competitors. Where it is in our interest and promotes the security of the American people. For this reason, the United States and Russia agreed yesterday to extend the new START treaty for five years in order to get the only remaining contracts to maintain stability. At the same time, I made President Putin clear in a very different way than my predecessor. The days of the United States turned in the face of aggressive actions by Russia, disrupting our elections, cyber attacks, poisoning its citizens. are over.
We will not hesitate to increase the cost to Russia and to defend our people. And we will deal with Russia more effectively if we work in coalition and coordination with other like-minded partners. The politically motivated imprisonment of Alexei Navalny and the Russian efforts to suppress freedom of expression and peaceful assembly are of great concern to us and the international community. Like all Russian citizens, Mr Navalny is entitled to his rights under the Russian Constitution. He was targeted. The aim is to expose corruption. He should be released immediately and unconditionally.
This is what a real president who puts America first looks and sounds like. Nobody’s going to push around in the Oval Office in the US with Joe Biden. Putin’s days of getting away with anything he wants are over.
Russia will be held accountable as Joe Biden never has to defend himself and claim that he is tough on Russia. He will just be.
