Trey Gowdy Blasts Chicago Lecturers Union: “If You Do not Need To Train, Do One thing Else”

Fox News contributor Trey Gowdy beat up the Chicago Teachers Union for fighting back to school and said, “If you don’t want to teach, do something else.”

Gowdy, the former South Carolina representative, began with an emotional story about a child who went to school for miles because they missed the bus.

“I didn’t want to miss school,” the child had said after walking for an hour and miles from school.

“That’s how much he wanted to be in school,” Gowdy explained. “That is the power of education. It can change your life. “

At that point, the former MP turned to the situation in Chicago, where he said, “It seems like teachers have all the time in the world for dance videos and union meetings, but no time for the kids.”

The Chicago Teachers Union refuses to go back to work

The Chicago Teachers Union is currently in a stalemate with Mayor Lori Lightfoot and is refusing to return to face-to-face classes, mainly because of pandemic concerns.

“Our goal is and has always been a mutually agreed plan to safely reopen our schools,” said the Chicago Teachers Union on Thursday. “However, these decisions cannot be made unilaterally in a vacuum.”

“We will continue to strengthen democracy by gathering feedback from educators and families to negotiate the safe return our students deserve,” they added.

Lightfoot and the city’s headmaster announced Friday that they had offered the union their “last, best and last offer” to open schools.

The unions are a shame

Gowdy insists the Chicago Teachers Union is not following science with its pandemic concerns.

Indeed, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Robert Redfield recently announced that “one of the safest places” for children during the pandemic is school.

“They can give you all the reasons not to go back to the classroom, but they don’t seem to find a single reason to go back to the classroom,” commented Gowdy.

“Teaching is hard work, even without a pandemic … I see,” said Gowdy. “But if you don’t want to teach, do something else.”

Last week, the CDC advocated in-person learning, arguing that data from K-12 schools that have taken precautions such as wearing masks, social distancing, and ventilation rooms show little evidence that in-person classes are contributing to the spread of COVID- 19 have contributed.

The head of the CDC says vaccination of teachers is not required for schools to reopen.

“There is growing body of data to suggest schools can reopen safely and that reopening safely does not mean teachers need to be vaccinated to reopen safely,” said the new CDC Director Dr. Roshelle Wilensky.

President Biden has joined the Chicago Teachers Union to keep schools closed.

“It’s not so much about teachers not going to work. The teachers I know want to work, ”said Biden. “You just want to work in a safe environment and … as safely as possible. And we can. “

The Center for Responsive Politics reports that teacher unions – 2% of which was donated to Republicans – spent $ 43.7 million on political campaigns in 2020.
