On Sunday night, Oprah Winfrey interviewed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle about their time at the White House. Mouths fell around the world as Markle spoke about the racism she was exposed to as a member of the royal family.
And it took the royal family quite a while to respond to the allegations. They did that on Tuesday with a boilerplate type instruction. During a Tuesday segment on CNN, Don Lemon said he had no idea what the Crown was doing.
Wolf Blitzer asked: “Now they have made a brief public statement. What’s your reaction What do you make of it?”
Lemon replied: “The statement I find Wolf is basically, “I apologize if I hurt you”. Isa went through it. She said the family are saddened by how challenging the past few years have been for Harry and Meghan. This isn’t the first time Meghan has spoken about how difficult it was for her during her time in the UK. “

The CNN host continued:
“They said the issues raised, particularly race, were ‘worrying’. They didn’t say we had a problem with racism. That was part of the reason why they resigned, which we have all been discussing here and which has been discussed in the UK media, particularly how Harry and Meghan viewed the UK media as being racist towards Meghan and compared how they treated Meghan and like stories were centered around Meghan and her counterpart. So I don’t understand what the palace is doing, why they say this is new to them. None of this is certainly new to them. “
