Pelosi claims the Individuals largely supported the Home Democrats’ weapons regulation

House spokeswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spoke out Thursday morning to claim that Americans “mostly” support democratically-sponsored general background scrutiny laws that the House has just passed as the latest arms control measure on the left .

Pelosi discusses gun law

Just before the House was due to vote on the HR 8 legislation, Pelosi made comments in comments broadcast by CSPAN.

“There is no one in Congress whose political survival is more important than the survival of our children,” said Pelosi.

“We believe that this should be bipartisan for Congress, as it is in the country. There is overwhelmingly broad support for the background check legislation so we hope that with the big, strong bipartisan vote we have today, the change will be broadcast on the Senate, the drumbeat across America, ”she added added. “This legislation … will save lives.”

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) said in the same news conference, “Background checks are supported by 90 percent of Americans.”

House goes bill

According to WABI, the House passed the legislation following Pelosi’s statements. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) later said the Republican “legislative graveyard is over” and that legislation mandating background checks on all arms sales will be voted on in the Senate.

“A vote is what we need,” said Schumer. “Maybe we’ll get the votes. And if we don’t, we will come together as a caucus and figure out how to do it. But we have to do it. “

President Joe Biden has urged Congress to expand gun legislation and said in a speech last month that it must be done immediately.

“We owe it to all of those we lost and all of those left behind to mourn, to change something,” said Biden on the anniversary of the shooting at Parkland School in Florida that hit 17 people were killed. “The time to act is now.”

Senate Justice Committee chairman Dick Durbin (D-IL) said earlier this week that the committee plans to hold gun control hearings over the next few weeks.
