Following the gunfire at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado earlier this week, President Joe Biden urged the U.S. Senate to take stricter gun control measures, including a ban on so-called assault weapons.
Biden said, “I did that as a senator. It stalled mass shootings, we can do it again. We can again ban offensive weapons and high-capacity magazines in this country. “
Police identified the suspect as a Syrian immigrant Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 21, from Arvada Colorado. Police said they still have no motive for the shooting, which killed 10 people, including Boulder cop Eric Talley.
In his comments on the shootings, President Biden referred to two current gun control measures that have passed the house pending a Senate vote.
“These are bills that have been voted on with both Republicans and Democrats in the House. This is and should not be a partisan issue. This is an American cause that will save lives, American lives. And we have to act. We should also ban offensive weapons. “
Former President Barack Obama also took the opportunity to speak about the need for further gun controls, demanding that it be more difficult to buy “weapons of war,” despite police reports that Alissa had an AR-15-style pistol and did not use military weapons.
According to CNN, the gun was bought legally.

Gun control was on Biden’s agenda from the start
Gun control has been on Joe Biden’s to-do list since the beginning of his presidential campaign and earlier.
As a Senator, he was instrumental in enacting the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 and the 1994 Assault Weapons Prohibition.
A quick review of the Joe Biden for President website reveals a comprehensive plan to ban the manufacture and sale of “assault rifles” and “heavy duty” magazines.
We can ban offensive weapons and high capacity magazines.
We can fill in loopholes in our weapon background verification system.
This is not a partisan question – it is an American question that will save lives. Congress must act.

Supporters of the second amendment fear a presidency from Joe Biden
Not all Americans are on board with Joe Biden’s “defeat the NRA” mentality.
Even before Joe Biden took the oath of office, law-abiding gun owners suspected what might happen.
Lines run around the block in gun stores across the country, ammunition flies off shelves as fast as staff can store it, and stocks of guns and ammunition go out the door as quickly as it comes in.
Things like COVID lockdowns and civil unrest are often cited as reasons behind the rise in gun sales, but White House Democrats also seem to fuel American fears that they will be unable to defend themselves.
In the 2008 election of Barack Obama, the number of background checks performed between January 2008 and January 2009 increased by around 29%, according to a Washington Post report.
In the election of Donald Trump, background checks fell 20% from January 2016 to January 2017.
Don’t think for a second that Democrats care about gun violence. Just look at the violence in the cities they control.
They are trying to disarm their political opposition by building barbed wire fences around houses of power.
Gun control is ONLY about control, not security.

Some places are resisting gun control
There are a number of places that have taken steps to protect the rights of their citizens under the Second Amendment.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has called for his state to become a “sanctuary state” of the Second Amendment.
Texas Democrats such as former Senatorial nominee Beto O’Rourke, who now famously said, “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D- TX), which introduced laws to create a national gun register that made possession of a gun illegal without a license.
In response, Abbott is proposing a law “prohibiting any state or government official from doing anything to implement a law, state or federal government that steals weapons from any Texan.”
Newton County, Missouri, passed law allowing the arrest of federal agents attempting to violate civil rights under the Second Amendment.
The Second Amendment Preservation Act states that all federal laws and regulations “that violate the right of the people to keep and carry guns” are “void in the county.”
Recently, the Indiana House decided to abolish the state’s license to carry a pistol.
