Marjorie Taylor Greene challenges AOC to debate the inexperienced New Deal

MP Marjorie Taylor Greene urged her colleague left MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) about the Democrat’s Green New Deal proposal.

Greene (R) released the challenge through a series of tweets.

“AOC I would like to challenge you to a debate on the economic policy of the Green New Deal,” she wrote.

She suggested that a discussion on the merits of the Green New Deal would be of interest to a national audience, and said the couple could even choose their own presenters.

Greene advised getting a business degree and the experience of running a company against Ocasio-Cortez’s degree in economics “to be informative to the American people.”

. @ AOC I would like to challenge you to a debate on the economic policy of the Green New Deal.

Since you sponsored the Green New Deal and have an economics degree, you are sure to be more than qualified.

Marjorie Taylor Greene also suggested that the debate be held in a pay-per-view format, with proceeds going to a charity of her choice.

“We can negotiate a large messaging network to host the debate,” she added. “Let’s do this for The People. What are you saying?”

A debate between what many consider to be the far left and far right of their respective parties would undoubtedly generate interest.

AOC has not yet responded to the debate challenge on its own Green New Deal proposal and has not been active on Twitter since Tuesday.

Newly-elected MP Nancy Mace (R-SC) recently wrote a column claiming President Biden’s recent $ 2 trillion infrastructure bill is a barely disguised version of the Green New Deal.

“The plan includes large parts of the socialist ‘Green New Deal’ that is firmly anchored in the minds and on the wish lists of the socialists in the House and Senate, even though both Congress and voters oppose the bill,” she writes.

Mace continues to point out similarities, including:

$ 175 billion to subsidize electric vehicles. $ 100 billion to build new public schools to make lunch at school greener. 200 billion US dollars are supposed to green and repair our power grid.

Mace argues that half of the “infrastructure” bill would go to “Green New Deal-style waste”.

The Biden administration should really rename their “infrastructure” package “The Green New Deal”. 75% of the $ 2 trillion bill is wasted on Green New Deal programs.

Not to mention, less than 10% is spent on roads and bridges. #infrastructure

A force to be reckoned with

Despite the controversy surrounding her previous social media comments and willingness to delve into fringe conspiracy theories, Marjorie Taylor Greene has some influence on the future of the Republican Party.

According to Politico, Greene raised over $ 3.2 million in the first quarter of 2021, which the fundraiser calls “mind-boggling” and “eye catching.”

Her influence has been blunted by Democrats forcing her out of the committees, but the fundraiser shows that she still has support from fans of former President Donald Trump.

Additionally, a Quinnipiac University poll showed voters believe Greene exemplifies the Republican Party better than the typical moderate GOP lawmaker.

In contrast, AOC has been ranked as one of the least effective Democratic members of Congress and mocked by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in her new biography.

Perhaps AOC could restore their standing by accepting a debate challenge from Taylor Greene.
