President Biden will accomplish a great deal in a short space of time, and he is doing it by getting the government back to work.
One example of how Biden has reversed Trump dysfunction since taking office is the White House’s infrastructure efforts.
NBC News reported:
Behind the scenes, Biden and senior administrators met with lawmakers. Efforts are expected to intensify this week, White House officials have said. The White House has already held at least 415 phone calls or meetings with members of Congress, chiefs of staff, and human resources officers from both parties, an official said. You’ve completed at least two dozen Senate and House Committee staff-level briefings conducted by just two parties or Republicans.
When it comes to dealing directly with members of Congress, Biden’s cabinet members responsible for passing the bill have called at least 62 Republican and Democratic members of Congress, and senior administrators have met with 10 senators in both parties, the said Officer. Klain and Steve Ricchetti, the president’s adviser, recently met with moderate Democrats to build support, including the Blue Dog and Problem Solvers gatherings.
There was very little constructive contact with Congress under the previous administration. One of the most common complaints from members over the past four years has been feeling like the White House was not listening. In fact, the former president didn’t speak to Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader McConnell for some time because he was mad at them.
President Biden is gaining success because he has returned the federal government to its traditional legislative process. The executive should communicate with the legislature. In the previous administration, Republicans believed that Congress passed the laws and the President signed them, which is true, but the idea that the two branches are separate spheres of power working for themselves created chaos and dysfunction, and even one amazing lack of performance with years of one-party control.
The Biden administration may go it alone with the Democrats to hand over the infrastructure, but the reason they get things done is to bring everyone to the table and get the government back to work for the American people.
