Caitlyn Jenner may have been one of the greatest athletes in the world, but she has no experience in politics. Even so, she has decided to toss her hat in the ring for a possible recall election against Gavin Newsom.
Jenner certainly fits strangely into the Republican Party. The GOP has spent much of the past 10 years passing discriminatory laws against transgender people. Jenner is likely to shut down many California Republican voters.
Still, Fox News will give the candidate a major boost on Wednesday by broadcasting a town hall discussion between her and Sean Hannity.
While there are a number of other seasoned Republican candidates, some in the party are hoping for Jenner. GOP strategist Adam Rosales says:
“The fact is, with so many candidates, 20 percent or 25 percent of the vote is actually the deciding factor. She has to define herself in some way – and I think this is her opportunity to do that. “
In reality, in this situation, Jenner is using Fox News and the network is using it. The candidate campaign will get a big boost by broadcasting a special on Hannity’s rating giants. And while Jenner is unlikely to win, an interview with her is sure to generate a lot of buzz.
