Proper-Judicial Judicial Watch is suing the Division of Homeland Safety for details about … Biden’s canine

As reported by the Washington Post:

Judicial Watch, the conservative activist group that says its mission is to file lawsuits to expose government wrongdoing, has an unexpected target: the Biden family’s dogs.

The group announced Tuesday that they had filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security to secure records of a biting episode involving the Major, the younger of the first family’s two German Shepherds, and an intelligence agent on the grounds of the White House were involved.

Judicial Watch is a right-wing organization that distinguishes itself as “Transparency, Accountability, and Integrity in Government, Politics, and Justice”. Founded in 1994 by Larry Klayman, an anti-government extremist whom the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as a “pathologically contentious attorney and professional gadfly” notorious for suing everyone from the Supreme Leader of Iran to his own mother in 2016 from the New York Times lies in filing unsubstantiated lawsuits allegedly to obtain documents from an endless cascade of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) inquiries.

Judicial Watch’s strategy is simple: the federal courts are bombarded with carpet bombs with Freedom of Information Act litigation. A large majority are fired. But Judicial Watch took a break last year when revelations over Ms. Clinton’s private email server prompted two judges to reopen two of the group’s cases related to her tenure as secretary of state.

The organization is an “associate” member of a network of right-wing think tanks that calls itself the State Policy Network. Far from being impartial as the website claims, the organization’s activities are funded by right-wing organizations such as the Carthage Foundation and the Sarah Scaife Foundation and are almost entirely devoted to attacking democratic politicians and policies with false or misleading claims. For example, the group’s president, Thomas Fitton, was implicated in the 2017 indictment of Seth Rich, a member of the Democratic National Committee whose murder Judicial Watch attempted to link to Hillary Clinton. The group was also responsible for promoting Vince Foster’s conspiracy theory, which was also directed against the Clintons. Judicial Watch has worked with Breitbart News and other conservative media outlets to spread disinformation, particularly misleading claims about electoral integrity.

While the group is no stranger to ridiculous lawsuits, their complaint against the Department of Homeland Security for information about Joe Biden’s dogs appears to be somewhere between the farcical and the absurd.

Judicial Watch said it filed the lawsuit because the Secret Service was slow to process an application under the Freedom of Information Act to retrieve “all records of communications between USSS officials related to the protection of the White House Dogs from the Biden family are in charge, named Champ and Major “.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ lawsuit alleges that the intelligence service was careful to provide this information and that the group is suffering “irreparable harm” as a result. The reality is (as the complaint itself confirms) that the group’s intelligence agency has already told the group that the documents requested by the FOIA are being compiled and processed. The slight delay is probably due to the fact that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has more urgent tasks.

The broader question, which should not go unnoticed, however, is why this organization would become so pathetically fixated on incidents of aggression by a dog that by all means resulted in very minor injuries that did not result in any significant loss of much.

“Yes, Major caught someone out for a walk,” Michael LaRosa, the spokesperson for the first lady, told CNN. “Out of caution, the person was seen by WHMU and then returned to work.”

The answer to this is of course obvious: the purpose is to harass Biden’s DHS and thus also the Bidens themselves. All of this is at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer, as the time and bills to respond to the lawsuit and defend the DHS consume resources that the U.S. government could use more productively on behalf of American citizens. And given all the important problems the country is facing – one just beginning to pull itself out of the worst combined public health and economic crisis in over a century – the law would seemingly prefer the Biden government to theirs Focus attention.

Despite all the absurdity, this is still an instructive moment. Transparent efforts to create “issues” from scratch are now simply a trademark of the right-wing who strive endlessly to provoke and ignite their vulnerable audiences. Abusing the legal system and government – in this case with frivolous FOIA inquiries and lawsuits – is just one tool to achieve its goals.

For anyone looking for a depth or a floor to which these people will not bend, this complaint merely confirms what we should all know by now: There is none.
