New reports say Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is “checked out” and “already accepted her fate” as there is increasing demand for her to be ousted as chair of the Republican Conference.
Liz Cheney is “checked out”
“House Republican sources tell us that Cheney is ‘checked out’ and is already accepting her fate. In contrast to the last attempt to oust her in February, which she easily defeated, she does not make phone calls and does not whip, ”reported Politico Playbook.
“A source close to Cheney said it intended to use the argument that executives should be able to say what they think is right without doing anything,” the publication added.

Cheney tries to defend himself
That came after Cheney tried to defend herself in a comment published by the Washington Post accusing Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the minority chairman of the House of Representatives, of “changing … history” about the politics of the United States to have republican caucus. She then claimed she was the true “conservative Republican”.
“I’m a Conservative Republican, and the most conservative conservative value is reverence for the rule of law. Each of us swears an oath before God to uphold our constitution, ”argued Cheney.
Since she voted for the charges against former President Donald Trump earlier this year, calls for Cheney to be ousted from her leadership role have increased. She recently doubled that by saying “it’s important” that Trump doesn’t run again in 2024.
“I don’t think that’s going to happen,” Cheney told the Washington Examiner. “And I think it’s important that it doesn’t happen, given what he’s done.”

While she also said that she “would certainly never vote for a Democrat” and she also stated that she does not think Trump “should be president again”.

Trump shoots back
Trump was never one to put that down and made his own statement.
“Liz Cheney has sooooo low polls in Wyoming and has sooo little support even from the Wyoming Republican Party that she’s looking for a way out of her congressional race. Based on all the polls, there is no way she can win, “said Trump.
“She will either be another lobbyist or embarrass her family by running for president to save the face,” he added. “This warmongering fool wants to stay in the Middle East and Afghanistan for another 19 years, but does not consider the big picture – Russia and China!”
