Former Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) went on CNN Friday morning to complain about the removal of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) as chair of the Republican Conference. He claimed Cheney’s overthrow of her opposition to former President Donald Trump was a “test of loyalty” for the Republicans in the House.
“It’s been a terrible week for Republicans”
“It’s been a terrible week for Republicans,” Flake said. “Liz Cheney did an excellent job explaining why she did what she did. I mean, that floor of the house speech and its subsequent interviews have been a bad week for Republicans. It is really harmful, not because people care or even know who the house conference chairperson is, but because it is a manifestation of a party that is unwilling to accept the truth. “
“This is currently President Trump’s party,” he added. “That won’t always be the case. I think he’s going to lose influence faster than he’d like. But right now this is a loyalty test. It is not a test of ideology. Of course, Liz Cheney is far more conservative than Elise Stefanik, but this is a test of whether or not you are loyal to a man and this is a terrible place to have a party. And so, yes, it’s more of a purge than a civil war. “

Trump celebrates Cheney’s fall
This comes after Trump spoke out to celebrate Cheney’s fall.
Liz Cheney is a bitter, terrible person, “Trump said in a statement, according to Yahoo News. “She has no personality or anything good to do with politics or our country. It’s a talking point for Democrats, whether it’s the border, the gas pipelines, inflation, or the destruction of our economy. “
“She is a warmonger whose family stupidly drove us into the never-ending disaster in the Middle East, exhausting our wealth and exhausting our vast military, the worst decision in our country’s history,” Trump concluded. “I look forward to seeing her as a paid employee on CNN or MSDNC soon!”
