Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) on Thursday called for President Joe Biden to help the people of Cuba who are protesting against the oppressive communist regime there.
“We see people on the island of Cuba who are fighting against the communist dictatorship. It is a noble thing. A free Cuba is a noble thing, ”DeSantis said during a press conference in Miami with Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez, MP Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) and FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr.
“It’s one thing many of these people have dedicated their lives to, and that’s why we obviously have to stand with the Cuban people against the communist dictatorship,” DeSantis continued.

“And one of the most effective things we can do as a country, and we need President Biden to make that happen, and I spoke to FCC Commissioner Carr on the island of Cuba,” he added. “The only thing communist regimes fear most is the truth.”
“And if we can help Cubans communicate with each other, including the outside world, that truth will matter. I think this truth will be crucial, ”continued the Florida governor. “So now is the time to get up Mr. President and be counted.”
DeSantis didn’t stop, doubling up and continuing to urge Biden to take action.
“I’ve never seen a community as united as the one we’ve seen here for almost a week. So this is a time to choose, ”he said.

“This is the time to stand with the people who want to break free from a brutal 62-year rule of communist oppression, and we are happy to do everything in our power to support the effort,” he continued . “It’s not as easy as saying ok, it’ll go next minute, but we can definitely do it if we get out of the White House quickly.”

“And so, Mr. President, please listen to the calls,” DeSantis concluded. “Stand with the Cuban people in the hour of need. In my opinion, this is one of the most important things that can be done right now. “
This came the day after DeSantis sent a letter to Biden asking him to take action regarding Cuba.
