The ABC talk show “The View” fell apart again on Friday when the show’s co-presenters got into a massive dispute over the second amendment to the constitution.
Liberal co-host Sunny Hostin claimed during the discussion that the Second Amendment was rooted in racism and “intended to protect slavery,” while conservative co-host Meghan McCain praised it as the “cornerstone” of what she believes “America Should Be”.
Hostess attacks second change
When Joy Behar asked what she felt was at the heart of “America’s guns problem,” Hostin replied, “I think it’s a cultural problem and … for decades the NRA has pushed laws that not only encouraged gun ownership and proliferation but also stifled the investigation and dissemination of information on the causes of gun violence. “
“I’m reading an amazing book called ‘The Second’ by Professor Carol Anderson, and it says that… the right to bear arms was meant to protect slavery because our founding fathers and others wanted to be able to do one to strengthen the local militia. “Group to basically quell a slave revolt and protect the plantation owners,” continued Hostin.
She went on to claim that gun sales in the black community have skyrocketed due to white supremacy, the pandemic and police violence. She claimed it made people feel unsafe instead of blaming the national increase in crime.

McCain fires back
McCain had none of it, however.
“Well, what makes me unsure is the rise in crime,” McCain said, according to Fox News. “But you don’t see people fleeing Arizona. In fact, Arizona is getting a new seat in Congress because so many people from California want to come to Arizona because of the different laws. “

“You don’t see people flocking to places like New York City, but places like Florida and Texas, and that’s because of the crime spike and other things that happened after the pandemic,” she added.
McCain then defiantly took a stand for the second amendment.
“I’m a gun owner, I’m a member of the NRA, I’m proud to be both,” she said. “I don’t think I ever want to be taught by people who don’t own guns, who didn’t grow up in the gun culture, who don’t understand why women like me want to be armed.”
“It’s very difficult for people who don’t believe in it to understand,” added McCain. “But in the future I will always vote for every person and party that continues to defend the second amendment, no matter what. It’s the cornerstone of who I am and what I believe America should be. “
